When asked how Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein initially wanted “a Harrison Ford type” and that he was going to test people who were similar to Ford. Segel told Goldstein that he should at least bring it to Ford, who he thought would immediately reject it, but at least it would generate interest from other famous actors so that others would hear that Harrison Ford was brought on the project.
